At INTERIOR affairs, we offer courses on various painting techniques, to help you create that personal touch for your home.

We offer our own classes and some based on Annie Sloans books on decorative antique effects and modern paint effects. Annie Sloan paint products and books are available in store.

All courses are held at our shop at 6 The Grove, Westbourne, commencing at 10 am and finishing at 5 PM. Coffee, tea and biscuits are included, but please bring with you something for lunch, for which we will take a half an hour break. You can obtain a lunch in the local cafe, pubs or fish and chip shop.

HOW TO Paint Furniture

This follows the book 'How to Paint Furniture', but goes beyond. Both ageing and contemporary techniques are covered. Although the techniques are aimed towards furniture painting on wood, many of the techniques can be used on walls too. Learn how to apply decoupage and age, texture paint and make stencils, work with two toned paint effects for both an aged and modern effect, use crackle varnish, watch paint dry and be amazed as it cracks using Peeling Paint Medium, be introduced to gilding. Bring in any items of furniture you want to transform using any of these techniques.

TROMPE L'OEIL

A one day workshop to show you the rudiments of trompe l'oeil to aid mural painting. You can practice the decorative effects of drapery, stonework, faux panelling and perspective scene drawing to combine in a painting you can take home with you on canvas. Extensions to the one day course can be arranged.

MODERN Paint Effects

Learn about modern paints, patterns and colours. Create effects with pearl and sparkle, a velvety metallic effect, polka dots, textures silver and organic strips. This course accompanies the new book 'Modern Paint Effects'. Learn how to use metallic Paint - polished/textured/ rollered : try Pearl Paint - polished and painted : work with Sparkle Paint : create with Matt Paint - washed and scrubbed and more : apply Glossy Glaze Paint for shiny veils of colour : try colourwashing, ragging, frottage, combing, dragging and more : marbled techniques for the floor and wall.
